Maternity leave what is fair
I am wondering what do you think is a fair amount of time should a employer give to someone that wants maternity leave. Just how long should a job be held open for someone on maternity leave?
I am asking this question because with unemployment at a all time high what do you think is fair. Should the job go to someone that is able to work now or just be left open for the company to suffer employee shortages for months. What happens if they higher someone to cover for the person out on maternity leave. Do they just fire that person when the when the original person on maternity leave comes back?
I think a fair amount of time is two to three months tops. However I have heard that some people want to get 6 months to a year in leave. What are your thoughts?
