Upset about Christmas what to do

I have two little one,  a daughter who is going on one and a three year old son.  I am not working since I had my daughter and I will be going back to work in January at least part time. My husband is working but in order to keep is job he had to take less hours then before.

We are hanging okay but with Christmas coming we are really not doing much my son will get a bike that he been wanting but that is it and my daughter will not get anything but a stuff toy just so she has a gift.  The problem is for the few family and friend that asked what we are doing seem to get upset saying that all you going to do.   I even had my sister say that my husband is  being cheap.

Do you think it is all that bad if we do not go all out.  We are not getting a tree it is a waste of money but we did hang some light and have a few decorations around the house.  Should I get more?  Or what should I say when someone thinks that.  Any advise welcome
