Four months ago when I was pregnant with my son the dentist I went to for a regular cleaning told me I had an advance case of gum disease. That because of my gum disease was so bad, it could effect my baby’s health.
He was really pressuring me into getting a deep cleaning that was going to cost me over $400.00 when it was all done. He kept saying that it is not only for my health but the health of my child that I should have the deep cleaning done.
I was in shock to believe such a thing since I always taken very good care of my teeth and gums. I left him with out doing anything thing not even the cleaning I went in for since he was making me feel so bad. I told him I would think about the deep cleaning and call him the next day.
In stead I went into a different dentist the next day for a second opinion. Where I was told my gums were fine. My gums were a little red due to my pregnancy, but there was nothing to worry about. I had my generally cleaning done there and had a health baby boy afterword.
I now what to file a complaint against that dentist. I got my dental record from the other place that took care of me and I want to go after punitive damages. I feel that the first dentist was just trying to scare a pregnant women into having unnecessary dental work done. You think if I sue will I get the dentist to settle monetarily as a part of the state complaint process.
