At what age should children have dental insurance.

I am six months pregnant and I would like to know what is the recommended age in which I should get dental insurance on a child?  This is my first child and I am new to knowing about baby dental care.  I been told many different things from friend and family but since they are so varied I am not sure when a child needs to see a dentist and when I should make sure that I have dental insurance.
