How will a dentist fix a chipped tooth

My ten year old son  just chipped one of his  front top teeth.   It is not a large chip but you can tell he chipped it.   I believe it is one of his permanent teeth so it will need to be fixed.   How will a dentist fix his tooth, and will it be costly?  I do not have dental insurance so I am not sure what to expect.
