When do you first start brushing baby teeth.

Wednesday, May. 1st 2013 9:27 AM

Question: I know that you are supposed to clean your child baby teeth but when do you start brushing them?  Do you use toothpaste? If you do not use a tooth brush when the teeth start to come in what do you use?  If you do not use toothpaste then do you just brush with water?

Answer: You want to start taking care of your baby gums even before teeth start to come in.  After feeding  make sure to wipe baby gums with a damp soft baby cloth keeping their gums clean from bacteria.  Once you see your child cut their first tooth, it is time to take him/her to see the dentist.  Even though the dentist may not do much at the first dental appoint other then count and brush the few teeth coming in, this give you the chance to ask as many questions you want on how you should take care of your child teeth.
