Baby Dental, Do Babies Need Dental and Vision Insurance.
I will be having our first child in four more months. My husband employer offer major medical but no benefits for dental and vision. He feels we may want to look into the cost of getting this additional coverage on our own. I just wondering if it is cost effective for us to do so now or should we wait until our child is older when he will really start to use such benefits
Answer: With regards to vision: Most major medical insurance provide benefits for eye exams and offers benefits for medical services needed for your eyes. (however always call your insurance company or refer to your policy to confirm terms and conditions) What is normally not covered is the frames, lenses and contacts.
With regards to dental: Having dental insurance is a good idea. the ADA (American Dental Association ) advises that a baby should see a dentist by the time the cut their first tooth or no latter then their first birthday. Dental insurance will help keep dental care cost more affordable.
