Baby Dental, Son has four cavities in his baby teeth
I took my son for his dentist appointment and was told he had four cavities one on the front tooth and three on the back teeth. The problem I am having is that it will cost me over six hundred dollars for him to have all the cavities filled. That is a lot of money to us right now. It seem to me like why bother when baby teeth will fall out anyway.
Are there any risk for me not to have the filling done. I would have the filling done if he was in pain or something, but he is fine his teeth do not hurt him. Why fix something that is going to fall out any way. Advise please
Reply: Baby teeth are very important part in oral health and development. They do serve many functions as listed below.
* Help children chew food easily and properly
* Help children speak more quickly and clearly
* Hold space in the jaws for permanent teeth that are growing under the gums
* Set the stage for a lifetime of healthy smiles
Having baby teeth fall out too soon due to decay can effect your child eating, speaking and their adult teeth.
If cost is an issue:
* Talk to your sons dentist see if you can put off having the dental fillings done all at once, and instead do them in the order of important as you can afford them.
* See about getting dental insurance and or a dental discount plan that will help reduce your child dental care cost hopefully making his dental care more affordable for you. We sell both types of dental insurance and plan in most states just enter your zip code in the quote box provided.
