Baby Dental, Yellow Looking Baby Teeth

Question: My baby daughter’s teeth are just coming in but they look a yellowish color and this concerns me. She had jaundice before and I am wondering if this is a sign that she is going to get it again. I have started brushing her teeth everyday but the yellow does not seem to be going away. I looked around and don’t think the jaundice is related to her yellow teeth but my question is do most babies have yellow teeth when they start coming in and then turn white?

Reply: What medications if any did your baby have? Sometimes different medication may effect the color of your baby’s teeth.  If you have not seen a pediatric dentist you may want to go to one. A pediatric dentist can advise if your daughters teeth are just naturally that color or if she had bigger issues like Baby bottle tooth decay (BBTD) or if her baby teeth has enamel it should to protect against stains and tooth decay.

Either way only a dentist can determine what your daughter’s teeth issue are or are not. For peace of mind I would suggest seeing a pediatric dentist as soon as you can.
