Wednesday, Jul. 26th 2023 9:57 AM

Do you know what plaque is and how to avoid plaque buildup? First, it helps to know what plaque is. Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on your teeth. It is usually colorless until there is enough buildup on your teeth, which becomes tartar. Plaque is the leading cause of tooth decay and gum disease like gingivitis. That is why it is essential to brush twice a day to remove plaque before it causes dental problems. You should know that everyone develops plaque because bacteria are constantly forming in our mouths. What is essential to understand is to avoid plaque buildup. Preventing plaque buildup is manageable with proper dental care, such as brushing twice a day thoroughly and flossing daily to remove plaque between your teeth and under your gum line. Try to limit the amount of sugary or starchy foods. And make sure you schedule regular dental checkups at your dentist.
