Baby Dental – Fluoridated Drinking Water

Saturday, Aug. 19th 2023 6:03 AM

Fluoridated water helps strengthen teeth.

Fluoride can strengthen teeth to reduce tooth enamel erosion. Almost all water contains fluoride naturally, but more is needed to prevent tooth decay, which is why so many communities add fluoride to their drinking water. Drinking fluoridated water increases the amount of fluoride in our saliva. In turn, our tooth enamel absorbs fluoride from saliva. Once inside tooth enamel, fluoride combines with calcium and phosphate to strengthen our tooth enamel.
