Baby dental care, having a root canal done on a baby tooth

Nov. 25th 2010

My daughter is eight and has had this bad back molar almost from day one.   It has already had two filling done on it and now I am told it needs to have a root canal and a cap put on it.  I know she needs her molars to like  11 – 13 years old but really should I keep putting money into this tooth?

She only every had problems with this one tooth all her other teeth are really healthy and no cavities.   I just thinking it may be better just to pull it.  I do not want her going though all this dental work if it is a loss cause.

Baby root canal on a back bottom molar

Nov. 23rd 2010

My daughter needs to have a baby root canal done on a back bottom molar.  Her dentist told me that even though it had a filling on that tooth  already since she got another cavity along the side of the filling it went further down and now needs to have the root canal done.

She is nine and the root canal and cap she will also need is going to be too costly since she has to see a specialist which my dental insurance will not cover for.  The dentist said he could pull it but advises for me to try and save the tooth.  So it like I feel if I tell him to pull the tooth he will look down on me.   Should I just have it pulled I not sure where to get the money to do what he wants me to do.

Baby dental care, Why would you have dental work on baby teeth.

Jul. 31st 2010

So I took my son to the dentist he is five years old.  I am told he has three small cavities and a baby rootcanal that should be taken care of.  Okay so it has been a while since I was a kid but my parents never had me get a root canal on a baby tooth.  The dentist would just pull it if the tooth was bad.

My son dental care with the dental insurance I have (that does not cover much.) my cost would be over a 1000.00 since he advises that my son is put to sleep during the dental procedure.   I am not sure about any of the work he wants to do.  Small cavities are not hurting him.  He will be loosing those teeth soon any way.

As far as the tooth that needs the root canal why not just pull it.  I know pulling it would be a lot less costly then doing a root canal and cap.  I said this to the dentist but acourse he shot me down and said he would not advise on having the tooth pulled so soon.

Baby Dental Care, Pulling baby teeth too soon

Jun. 23rd 2010

My six year old has two very bad teeth.  They came in bad and now they are starting to really be an issue.  My family dentist said that we can either do a root canal and crown on both teeth  or pull them.  He said that even though the root canal and crown may cost more that is what he would advise since the teeth in question are molars and he needs them there for at least another five year or so.    I told him I would look into it and advise which way we will go.

Talking things over with my husband we are thinking more to having the teeth pulled.  Reason being is that these teeth were bad from the get go and I think my son would be better off pulling them.  What would happen if we choose to pull them now instead of saving them?  Advise please.
